About 64% of 3,020 employers covered in the latest ManpowerGroup Employment Outlook Survey, shared exclusively with ET, said they will hire more people in the coming quarter, while 15% said staffing levels would decrease and 20% expected to keep workforce levels steady. Only 1% were unsure about hiring intentions.

While core engineering constituted the largest percentage of placements with 42% of the job offers coming from the sector, data science and analytics which took up 19% while IT stood at 18%. Other sectors like financial services, management and research and development contributed less than 10% of the total placements, IIT-M said in a statement on Monday.

43 per cent rise in campus placements in IIT-Madras in first session of recruitment

As many as 176 offers were made by 34 companies which was 43 per cent increase on Day one's first session, the highest ever in the prestigious institution. Some of the recruiters include Microsoft, Texas Instruments, Bajaj Auto, Bain and Co., Goldman Sachs, Qualcomm, Boston Consulting Group among others, an IIT-M press release said here.
